Bath Stone & Bristol Skylines – Condition Survey

Tom Carter recently carried out a condition survey of the external Bath stone façade at 48–56 Queens Road, Bristol — with access provided by a lorry-mounted mobile platform to inspect all four storeys.

Skeletal were appointed by JLL to undertake a detailed survey of the main façade, eastern gable wall and glass canopy, assessing and recording any signs of distress or defects in the external stonework.

The building forms part of the historic Royal Promenade terrace — first recorded on the 1874 Ashmead map. Today, the ground floor is occupied by retail units, with residential accommodation above.

The heights definitely put Tom’s nerves to the test (at least at first!), but the views across central Bristol made it all worthwhile!
