Project Scope

The project involves the refurbishment of the Grade II listed Harpenden Hall, which provides office accommodation to a number of local businesses. The attic space, originally used as residential accommodation, was repurposed as storage space. This overloading caused failure in one of the main supporting oak beams. Skeletal Consulting Engineers were employed to design sympathetic remedial works to the beam to minimize the impact on the heritage asset. The remedial works were successfully completed using carbon fibre rods/strips and specialist adhesive.
