Site Visit to Kinbourne House with University of Bristol Students

As part of our ongoing support of the University of Bristol’s Industrial Mentoring Scheme, we recently took a group of first-year Civil Engineering students on a site visit to Kinbourne House (formerly 11–13 Whiteladies Road), one of our latest live projects in Bristol.
Skeletal Consulting Engineers has supported the mentoring scheme for the past four years, helping students gain insight into the civil engineering industry through group mentoring sessions, careers guidance and exposure to real-world projects.
Kinbourne House, for our repeat client Urban Creation, has recently started on site and involves the conversion of an existing office building into 23 high-quality student apartments.
The site visit gave students the opportunity to see a live project in its early stages, understand some of the practical challenges associated with refurbishment and change-of-use projects, and ask questions about design, construction and careers in engineering.
Bridging the gap between university learning and live construction projects is an important part of developing the next generation of engineers, and we’re pleased to continue supporting the scheme.
We look forward to following the progress of Kinbourne House as works continue on site.
